Polyurea is an elastomer that is similar to foam in that it uses an isocyanate and resin. When polyurea is sprayed onto a substrate, it cures immediately and after only a minute it is hard to the touch but stays flexible throughout its life. Polyurea coatings can be applied to any substrate without damaging the underlying material, providing corrosion protection.

The physical properties of polyurea make it an excellent choice as a protective coating for the insides of holding tanks or manholes that require a waterproof and watertight industrial coating. These lining systems can be used for small repairs or as a protective coating for new buried infrastructure.

What sets polyurea protective coatings apart from membranes or liners is the lack of seams when applied. In fact, when other sheet liners are used, polyurea linings are often used to seal the seams for extra protection. Polyurea sets quickly and offers abrasion resistance for any application.

Polyurea Lining Uses

Polyurea applied to Grant Street Pier in Vancouver to protect concrete coloring from water discoloration.

Polyurea hardens to the desired strength quickly, ensuring your infrastructure, holding tanks, and other materials are able to return to service within a few hours. Depending on its use, this will save you valuable downtime and, in turn, save you money in the long run.

All of the blends that we use are water, crack, corrosion, and chemical resistant, making it one of the most durable linings in the world. The lining that we offer comes in all colors with different blends for different applications. Some of the more common uses for polyurea systems include but are not limited to:

  • Digester tanks
  • Ponds
  • Fish holds
  • Roofs
  • Basement waterproofing
  • Holding tanks
  • Rust protection
  • Docks and Piers
  • Shooting Range
  • Concrete
  • Water Features
  • Decks

Polyurea linings can be altered for different purposes and won’t off-gas any volatile organic compounds (VOC) during use. This makes it safe for potable water storage and other uses where food processing takes place. The material can also be used in molds for decorative uses that will stand up to the elements for years to come.

Work With Experience
